Go-to Supplies

These are things I keep on hand and use frequently for Childhood Printables!

Print at Home or Online

🖨️ First things first, you need a printer! If you don’t have a home printer, or prefer not to use a lot of ink, you can always print your PDF files at a local print shop like Office Depot, etc.

You can also print online with Prints of Love. Use my code childhood10 at checkout to save 10% on any order over $49. They also offer lamination which is great if you want to have your printables printed, laminated, and shipped directly to your home all in one fell swoop!

If you plan to print at home, you’ll need some good cardstock for printing our printables! Cardstock is thicker than normal paper so it holds up better and it looks nicer! This is hands down my favorite cardstock. It has a great weight and a nice smooth texture. I use it with my inkjet printer and it saturates and prints beautifully.

Laminator and Laminating Pouches

Next up, consider purchasing a laminator. If you plan to print multiple routine and reward charts, or homeschool materials, a laminator is SO nice to have on hand. They are honestly super affordable and will save you money in the long run! This is the laminator I use and love.

You can purchase both gloss laminator pouches and matte laminator pouches! Both are waterproof, but the matte laminating pouches do not have a sheen to them which can be nice if you want to avoid any glare. Here are the laminating pouches I use. If you plan to use dry erase markers over top of the laminated page, you will want to stick with the gloss laminating pouches or these dry erase laminating pouches. If you use a matte pouch and try to use a dry erase marker, it will most likely stain the lamination and wont erase!

Paper Trimmer and Scissors

✂️ You will also need a paper trimmer. This paper trimmer is the one I use daily. It cuts great and you can easily replace the blades when needed. I use it for trimming out all of our printables. If you already have a trimmer and are wanting to add another tool to your toolkit, this 4 in 1 paper trimmer is great! It’s a little more robust due to the fact that it can be used in 4 different ways. You can cut straight lines, wavy lines, perforated lines, and even score your paper!

You probably already have a really good pair of scissors, but if not, here are the scissors I use. I like to keep a couple of sizes on hand, especially a small pair of scissors with a really sharp tip. These are great for cutting into tight little details and small spaces.

Velcro Dots

Many of our routine and reward charts use velcro dots, and these are my favorite ones! They are super strong and stick so well. I’ve never had one peel off! Most of our printables use the 3/4″ velcro dot.

Bone Scoring Tool

If you don’t have a paper trimmer with a scoring tool built in, this bone scoring tool works great! I use it with my paper trimmer and just run the scoring tool down the grove on the paper trimmer. This helps you fold cards, envelopes, etc easily. Your creases will be straight and they’ll look nice and crisp!

Extra Tools and Supplies

The last few things you might consider keeping on hang would be a hole punch and a glue stick or some glue sticky dots. I often times use regular glue sticks for gluing envelopes or gift card holders together. Sometimes Ill use sticky dots or foam stickers to secure a gift card to the printable card.
